This is a ‘no frills’ catch up this week folks, as I know that not everyone reads my weekly messages which often results in important updates being missed. I implore you to read this week’s message and I will keep it brief.
All Hallows re-opens on Monday 2 March after closing last Wednesday due to some students and staff returning from a skiing trip in Italy presenting with cold symptoms, thus there were fears of the Coronavirus being present within the school population. There have been no confirmed cases and all students and teachers have been tested clear.
I was informed that the schools ‘wet areas’ would be thoroughly cleaned but not deep cleaned during the closure.
Rather typically I made the most of the school closing by having a very nasty cold and being quarantined at home myself!
(Declan literally put a red cross on the bedroom door, very funny!)
Now I know there is a low risk of us getting this virus, but I don’t want another bug of any kind, and I don’t want you to get anything either so can we re-establish some hygiene protocols for our classes and one to one trainings please.
At Classes
- Please use the hand sanitiser provided and kept on the reception desk before, and after you have attended class.
- I recommend you wash your hands regularly throughout the day, remember to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ twice (20-30 seconds) and work the soap between the fingers and around the thumbs too.
- Please change from outdoor shoes into your indoor training shoes when you arrive at class, I recommend that after wiping your feet on the door mat you sit on the benches to the left to remove your shoes then walk to your favourite spot to pop on your workout shoes. Do this reverse when you go home.
- By doing so we can significantly reduce the bugs and dirt from the ground outside getting onto our skin and clothes and it reduces wear on out/indoor footwear too.
- Please bring a large towel to class and place it on the exercise mat or bring your own mat. I recommend a small hand towel to mop up sweat on you and our equipment.
- I shall bring an anti-bacterial spray for mats and equipment to spray after using equipment please use.
- Cough/sneeze into a paper tissue and dispose of immediately, or – if caught short, into the crook of your elbow.
One to One
- Please change from outdoor to indoor shoes upon arrival, and change again following your session.
- Wash hands for 20-30 seconds in the cloakroom before training.
- Use a tissue then hand sanitizer, if coughing or sneezing,
- Bring your own clean hand towel for training, towels for massage are provided and are always changed after every client.
- Please bring own labeled sports drinking bottles.
- The gymnasium will be sanitized in between clients so please maintain appointment times to allow for this to happen
- Don’t exercise or attend class if you have illness symptoms below the neck e.g. fever/elevated temperature, chest tightness pain or breathing difficulty, muscle aches and pains (not attributable to exercise or general stiffness).
Support your immune system by eating lots of colourful fruit and vegetables, gut friendly fibre, probiotics, prebiotics and fermented foods.

- Ensure you are getting enough Vitamin D, C, B3, B12 and anti-inflammatory foods such as Turmeric, Ginger, Curcumin, and Coconut oil.
- Honey has anti-viral and healing properties.
- Lavender and Tea Tree oil are natural antiseptics and nasal sprays such as Sterimar salt spray are good to help clean and clear nasal passages and tubes.
- Drink lots of water.
- Get good sleep (7-8 hours).
- Manage stress via meditation, taking time out, dealing with on going challenges and toxic situations.
- Get out in the fresh air.
Moderate exercise boosts the immune system and reduces stress so it’s a good thing to do at this time. Over training can compromise immunity, so 2 hard HIIT style workouts weekly are sufficient but I recommend that you get straight home to shower, refuel and rest rather than socialising afterwards.
This is a good article written by a pediatrician.
Love ya loads,
Let’s look after each other and ourselves so we can continue to keep fit and healthy together!
