Thank you for the lovely feedback regarding Sarah and Daisy’s classes whilst Dec and I have been away – I’ve passed it on and I’m really happy (although I knew you would enjoy their classes) that you are happy. Thanks again to Sarah, Daisy and Karen who have looked after DYBO Health and Fitness over the past 10 days.
Dec and I really spoiled ourselves staying at a beautiful place where I focused on daily exercise, healthy eating and resting – all of which I needed (Dec focused on rest!).
Whilst observing fellow holidaymakers I was stunned by the numbers of them who literally looked at their mobile devices all the time (phones and tablets) and, believe it or not, in the theatre too! A couple looked at their phones throughout the show whilst their kids ran around the auditorium, they were neither watching the show, and being entertained, or supervising their kids who were moving furniture about! Unbelievable – so disrespectful to the performers, fellow audience members and their children who aren’t learning how to enjoy such an experience.
It’s easy to find ourselves looking at the phone, and answering non-urgent conversations or enquires and so ignoring the people we are with in the flesh and what is going on around us in the here and now.
I reminded myself to put down my book and take in the beauty of this expensive holiday environment, and rather than sit back and snooze, open my eyes and see the beautiful gardens, the ocean and the birds and lizards (or wizards as Dec now calls them). I certainly think that it helped me to rest and recover and get my monies worth from my holiday – you can be anywhere when looking at your mobile computer but we were somewhere and I wanted to make the most of it.
I saw a programme about a guy who had his mobile phone usage hours tracked and can you believe it added up to 5 hours a day!!!! That’s without computer or TV time added! It’s not good for our eyes, posture, brain wave or sleep patterns, posture, activity levels, relationships and social interaction or our health! It’s a reminder (to me anyway) to put the phone away!
Thank you for the concern some of you expressed when I couldn’t get hold of my Dad after the Barcelona incident. After 48 hours of not being able to get hold of him I was getting worried… well Steve managed to get through to him and he isn’t being held at gun point by a terrorist so all is well (actually I think the terrorist might jack in his evil ways if he was trapped with my dad for 48 hours, ha ha!)
So to the week ahead…
I have new routines for Boogie Fitters and Cardio Dancers on Monday night, a splendid and challenging small group 3 in 1 session planned for Tuesday evening (6.30pm All Hallows, email to book). Daisy has created lovely new content for Wednesday night’s Barre Fit and I would like to add a little too, if there is room.
Thursday’s Contemporary Stretch is going to be fabulous with my Pilates in Motion concept and I have some gorgeous ideas for Thursday’s Dancespiration class. I’m so looking forward to working out, dancing and sweating beside you this week, I missed you!
Something to look forward to…
The ‘back to school’ theme can make us feel a bit glum but remember we have another of our fantastic Independance Day events on Sept 24th…

Happy Birthday Bradley
Many of you know my nephew as he’s grown up coming along to classses with me and is now a tall and strapping 16 year old – can you believe it!
In case the sun returns and you are looking for a healthy and tasty drink (that doesn’t involve Gin, ha ha), try this…
Melon, cucumber and lime jiuce
- ¼ large honeydew melon
- ½ cucumber, cut into large pieces
- 1 x lime
Method
Take the melon, remove the seeds, then cut the flesh away from the outer skin and chop into chunks. Put the melon, cucumber and lime through your juicer/nutri bullet following the manufacturer’s instructions. Pour into a tall glass and serve over crushed ice, nom nom!!
Have a fab week,
Love ya.
Helen xx
