So what happened – I blinked and the summer holidays vanished?!? I know Ive been busy, which is great, but is it true that time flies when we are having fun? If thats so then Ive been having the time of my life!

Indian Summer
I hear from the weather girl on the telly that we are due some more summer weather which makes me feel a bit better and maybe a trip to the beach with the dogs will still happen before the cold weather returns.

DYBO
Things are proceeding full steam ahead here at UKFA and CF&DC with the new website and rebranding plus the launch of the DYBO Academy and advanced teacher training workshops (our first one is running in October; “excited” is an understatement!). Isnt it great that even after 30 years of teaching and lecturing in fitness, Im still loving it. I know, Im a lucky girl.

Back to School
Its back to school for all of us and our full class schedule resumes TODAY!
I remember the smell and feel of new workbooks, pens, uniforms (2 sizes too big!) and anticipation, and I love how the 1st of September is a on a Monday this year as it represents fresh starts, progression and potential to be reached for!

Sugar Free September
A colleague of mine (Rachel Holmes) has set a ‘no sugar’ September challenge to her Fat Loss clubs and I think thats a great idea. Excessive sugar consumption is causing massive problems with the health of our nation and many people have no idea how much they are eating, its in almost everything they eat, let alone what its doing to their health in the long term or their waist lines. When I speak with clients about their sugar intake, its often a shock.

So lets all do the September ‘ditch the sugar’ challenge – look on the back of packets to see how much sugar is in what you eat! Avoid anything that says its got added glucose, sucrose, fructose and avoid the artificial sweeteners too, they are just as bad for you. You can click on the two articles (to the right on this page) I wrote on this subject last year to remind you.

Be aware that many foods that are labeled as diet/fat/light are often full of sugar and sweeteners, irrespective of who makes them e.g. weight watchers, M&S etc.
You cant go wrong when you eat natural ingredients i.e. fruit (2 portions daily max), veg, fish and meat and make meals from scratch – then you know what you and your family are eating. So go on, lets get ‘sugar free’ for September. I look forward to hearing about and seeing your progress!

Big Up
Congratulations to Yanto Barker for winning British Cyclings National Elite Series 2014 – the final round was held over 200km around Ipswich yesterday and Yanto successfully defended his lead in the season long competition by coming 4th and ahead of his nearest challengers. Massive credit goes to super coach’ Steve Benton who Yanto credits for getting him consistently on the winners podium for the past two years!

Fitness Fridays
This Friday and the following three are “Freestyle Fitness Yoga Fridays! Places are limited so you need to book asap (info right).

So come on my lovelies, back to your health routine – I cant wait to see you very soon.
