Today is our Steve’s birthday and I think you’ll agree he is in great shape, full stop!
Age is often used as an excuse to behave in a certain way or to avoid doing things that we don’t want to do, yet know we should/would benefit us!
I hear it all the time: “oh, I’m too old” when really folks mean “I can’t be bothered”. It’s true that we have a lot of accumulated activity/inactivity over the years and so it can take us longer to warm up and recover from what life throws at us – we do have a choice though, we can give ourselves longer to prepare and recover and so keep up the great and rewarding work or we can give up and get old (looking and feeling) and creaky/cranky!
Well you know where I stand on that! Its not about looking old/er, for me, its about feeling healthy and well and being able to keep doing all the things I love! For me it’s dancing, walking/running my dogs (and exploring my environment, climbing trees clambering over fences etc.) learning new things and sharing what I’ve learned over the years with you! For Steve it’s riding his Bike (he hold’s many of the local Strava records smashing times set by far younger riders), running with Miki and listening to and mixing music.
I’m here (and so are the rest of the DYBO team) to support all of you be the happy and healthy person that you want to be, whatever that means to you! I know I nag, as I always say, “it’s only ‘cos I love ya!”

The tempo is at times faster than classic burlesque to improve cardiovascular fitness and also slows to challenge muscle control, balance and stability. Most importantly, you will have lots of fun and giggles experiencing a new sexy way of moving and something different!

DYBO Christmas Celebrations
DYBO Christmas Nosh Up!
I want to celebrate Christmas with all my DYBO family (class members, 1 to 1 clients and team) and so have booked Zizzi’s restaurant in Farnham for Friday 18th December, 8pm.
The £24.95 Christmas set menu looks lovely, has various choices including Veggie options and a healthy Salad for those who would prefer; it also includes a glass of Prosecco. There is a 10% service charge per person but it still looks good value.
I will bring the menus to class as their Christmas menu isn’t on their website yet.
Let me know if you would like to come, no need to give me a deposit yet, I just need numbers at present.
Giving you a boost!
It’s definitely very autumnal with damp humid weather, foggy mornings and shorter daylight hours. It is possible to keep well and avoid seasonal bugs by boosting your immune system with the following antioxidant and Zinc rich foods:-
Broccoli – exceptionally high in antioxidants.
Carrots – full of the antioxidant beta carotene.
Red peppers – lots of vitamin C.
Kiwi fruit – just one contains your entire daily requirement of vitamin C.
Oranges – just one contains your entire daily requirement of vitamin C.
Green or white tea – full of powerful antioxidants.
Mushrooms – rich source of antioxidants.
Lean beef – rich in zinc but all protein is good for your immune system so eggs etc are great too
Oysters – exceptionally high in zinc and iodine, said to be great for your libido too!!
Berries – packed with antioxidants
Here are a few recipe suggestions that can easily support your immune system for the autumn and winter season:-
Warming vegetable and chicken/beef stews or soups,
Red pepper and tomato soups,
Broccoli soups,
Carrot, orange and ginger smoothies,
Snack on Kiwi fruit and berries
In addition, these also help:-
Lots of water (2 litres water, diluted fresh juices, fruit teas etc) ,
Daily activity (walking, fitness/dance classes, gym training etc.) accumulated 250 mins during the week
Plenty of sleep (it’s when our body/mind recovers and prepares)
Lots of laughter
Manage stress effectively meditation, exercise, talk with mentors, coaches etc.
Wash hands frequently, wash away those bugs!
Avoid touching your face and touching handrails, lift buttons, telephones and shared computer keyboards all have significant levels of bugs and bacteria.
So keep yourself in ‘tip top’ health and shape – always remember, you are important to me!
