Get your wellies out!
Good morning, well it’s all change – flip flops away and ‘wellies’ out! (goodness nearly had a typo there!!!!). Now chuckling loudly to myself…
All change
It’s been busy here at DYBO ‘Towers’, yes the transition is full steam ahead as we switch from UKFA to DYBO. Change can be challenging yet invigorating and refreshing and that is exactly what I’m experiencing.
The new website is ready – check it out www.dybo.co.uk ; why not book mark it? Our emails will be coming from dybo.co.uk so make sure our correspondence goes to your inbox and not the trash or you’ll miss out on valuable information.
Spread the word too as the only way we can be successful is if you spread and share our message. Without your referrals we can’t compete with the marketing budgets of the big club chains and franchises.
Academy
I’ve been ‘full on’ writing the “Choreography Equation” training course – our first one is this Sunday coming, 19th October and I’m sooooo excited. I’ve put heart and soul into creating the Academy (with Karen Smith at my side). My aim being to spread the love and skills required to be a creative and effective ‘Freestyle’ fitness teacher and operator, so that independent, free-thinking, motivating and knowledgeable teaching does not disappear.
See, told you!!!
You know I have been banging on for decades that exercise is both supportive of good mental and physical health and also healing too! Well, this weekend three separate reports have also backed my viewpoint.
A two-page spread in The Times covered how exercise is essential in the prevention of and treatment of the epidemic of back pain we have in this country. The message, condensed down, is;
When experiencing back pain, take pain relief and keep moving.
Don’t sit for too long, move every 20-30 mins.
Avoid sitting with your head dropped/pushed forward and your spine flexed forward, so sort your working posture, check your computer screen is eye level etc.
Sit on a stability ball or even have a standing workstation!
Sleep with only one pillow (thus avoiding pushing your head forward as you sleep)
Work on your posture (I nag you all the time about that don’t I?)
Keep flexible!
Another study suggested (reported in the Daily Mail) that exercise was important in the fight against cancer, suggesting that increasing blood flow through all the body tissues (which is what happens when we exercise ) helps carry the medications to every part of the body, boosting treatment effectiveness. I believe we shouldn’t underestimate the stress busting effects of exercise or the normalising of life too, sticking with our ‘healthy’ lifestyle and routine. Helping people feel healthy, we get what we focus on.
The third was about using exercise in the fight against depression. Happy hormone boosting, socialising, self esteem building and creating purpose are just some of the reasons why it’s so effective in the treatment and prevention of mild to moderate depression. Nipping it in the bud can prevent it from becoming too severe!
So what’s the best type of exercise???
Well the one that you stick with! It’s usually what you enjoy the most. So the best exercise is the one that you do. We need to accumulate 270 mins of exercise every week to reap full rewards; you can divide that into 30 mins daily if that suits your schedule best and mix it up with stretching sessions, muscle conditioning, posture and core work and cardiovascular training. Our weekly Class and PT schedules accommodate all of these requirements and offer different ways of doing it to suit preferences and keep it fresh and inspirational!
PARTY!!
Halloween falls on a Friday night this year so we couldn’t resist the opportunity to have a party (no school next day!). You are invited to dress up and join us on ‘All Hallows Eve’ (31st October), play spooky games and mingle with the supernatural for the evening. Party starts at 7.30pm. RSVP.
Courses
Freestyle Fitness Yoga is so popular we are adding it to our weekly schedule.
As of Monday 3rd November, we will change the 6.30pm class on Mondays to Freestyle Fitness Yoga. Tighter Assets continues until then at that time.
Spread the word!
People love our Big Balls…
…and What To Do With Them class on Fridays at 6.30pm – come and join us for the next two Fridays.
Power Step
A 4 week Power Step course begins on Friday 7th November; it’s a fat busting pre-Christmas workout to help you get in shape for the party season and is fab pre-ski fitness training too.
Remember to give me your feedback regarding the website and all our classes – it’s important to us. Spread the word about all the wonderful things we do to help people be healthy, fit and fabulous.
Here for you!
Have a fab week,
Love ya. Helen x
