“I love Summer – it’s my favourite day of the year!”

Apparently we have a heatwave on its way, or as other parts of the world call it, Summer! So time to get the shorts and t-shirts out and bare a little flesh. Lots of folks are concerned about what to wear to class/training when the weather heats up; well, as long as you are comfortable and are wearing a good bra/sports support and appropriate shoes (and are ‘decent’!), I really wouldn’t worry. You can of course get the tech clothing that wicks away sweat, but I stick with shorter leggings, or shorts, vest tops or loose fitting T-shirts. If you are outside training then covering your head with a hat, and arms with a long sleeved tech top, is a good idea. Believe it or not covering the skin will keep your cooler and save you from burning. Of course, ensure you drink sufficient water throughout the day and during your workouts. Dehydration affects performance, mental alertness, energy levels, and ability to cool, skin quality and health! In fact dehydration can kill! Drink approx. 2 litres daily but not more than 4 litres (you can over-hydrate which can also be very dangerous).

Calling all Fans

I will have the Fans running in the Gym and at the All Hallows Studio, plus cooling spray and ice to help keep you keep cool. If you have a fan, you can bring to class to help create a breeze then please do bring it along with you, the more we can have, the better.

Remember to return your summer booking request by Wednesday – only classes with sufficient interest will go ahead!

Punching above their weight!

Steve’s boys have had an amazing week. Firstly Marcin Bialoblocki of ONE Pro won the Polish National Championships (in the Time Trial event) and as National champion he has qualified for the world championships! Yesterday in Lincoln, the rest of ONE Pro Cycling raced in the UK National road championships, (alongside Mark Cavendish, Bradley Wiggins and various British Sky Team members) and Yanto Barker and Jon Mould gained 8th and 10th places respectively – the best of the UK based ‘domestic’ riders and better than many of the European based pros.

Also, on Thursday, 19 year old Tom Baylis achieved a fantastic 4th place in the under 23’s Time Trial.

FitPro Live 2015

Only a couple of weeks to go before I head off to the London Excel centre to present at the 25th year of FitPro conventions (I attended the first one and have have presented at all but 1 of the rest!). My presentation and notes are ready and I’m looking forward to both presenting and attending other lectures, workshops and masterclasses, plus a bit of catching up with fellow fit pro’s.

Ante Post Natal Training

I am delivering another Ante Post Natal Teacher Training course for Pilates teachers in a few weeks (Sunday 12th July). Contact me for more information about the course
