Whilst sitting at my computer last night, researching, the feed on my Facebook account was busy ‘pinging’ up messages in the corner of my screen. Almost all were about X Factor and Honey G. Now I’m not watching the show, having decided to vote with my remote control and turn over/off. All the time the show has viewers and those viewers are caught up in the controversy, the controversial will continue to take the attention away from the talent, who will be trampled in the hullabaloo and miss out on the oxygen of publicity. Of course the TV Big Wigs and monied sponsors will be rubbing their hands, they can’t lose; it’s not about talent (or quality) my dear friends, it’s about profit.

How many times have you heard someone complain at the sad loss of the corner shop, butchers, greengrocers, pharmacist, milk man, Woolworths and so on. Those small businesses/people who gave attentive, ‘value for money’ service and expertise, who knew their customers requirements and were rewarded by loyalty and continued custom (only to find that that customer loyalty was lost to bigger businesses with clever marketing, bigger budgets, lower charges, less quality, fewer local staff, etc.)

I have long believed in purchasing from local providers and High Street whenever I can, spending my hard earned £’s with those who offer great service, even if they charge a little more. After all, we do, usually, get what we pay for.

(So this Xmas I will once again shop locally, support great service and our community).

The principal of thoughtful ‘voting’ is the same, irrespective of whether we are a customer, patient, business owner, employee, employer, councilor, politician presidential candidate, I think that it’s important to be thoughtful about how we invest/vote with our time, attention and pennies, consider what can happen when you don’t?!

Honey G wins X Factor, Trump becomes President; Simon Cowell owns all TV and Tesco runs everything!!! I’m shuddering.

If you are a local business or provider and want to share what you do with our DYBO community send me information (just a few lines in summary plus contact details) and I will share it with our DYBO family.

I have, as always, lots of great news and a fab recipe that will keep you healthy and on track with your healthy diet. So read on for details.
