‘Summer’, my favourite day of the year (boom boom!), well the weatherman said Summer will be here for Tuesday (and over by Wednesday, ha ha) – anyway, whether it rains or shines, we will be ready for you. The fans and the AC unit will be running in the PT Gym and I shall bring fans, ice, flannels and ‘cool spray’ to the classes if it’s hot (if you have fans, cool spray etc. then please bring with you to class as every bit helps). Dampening t-shirts is also a great way of keeping cool too.

Thank you to those of you who have returned your completed Summer Schedule requests. There are still some outstanding so please remember your vote will still count if you make it today. I’m committed to running as many classes as are financially viable over the Summer but, obviously can’t run at a loss. You will have a full timetable until the end of July and then a reduced timetable throughout August and early September. I am looking at making some changes to our class schedule in September – remember you can have your say and I welcome requests and suggestions.

A Beautiful Bride

DYBO Diva Julie made a beautiful bride on Saturday when she said ‘I do’ to her American boy, Matt. It was a wonderful day with guests from America, Amsterdam, France and more! I felt the devil in me wanting to re-enact scenes from ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’, tormenting Americans ha ha..;)

Tips To Keep Cool

*Stay out of direct sun from 11-4pm

*Keep hydrated; drink glasses of water throughout the day (keep an eye on your pee which should be pale and odourless). You need 2 litres daily.

*When exercising don’t drink ice cold water, it will sit in your stomach until warm enough to be absorbed in to your blood stream, you can be suffering the affects of dehydration with a stomach full of water.

*Do wear natural fibres, loose and lightweight clothing

*When exercising put your wet flannel in a bag of ice and place on your pulse points for a few seconds at regular intervals.

* Water or cool sprays are effective to make you feel more comfortable

*Body lotions can affect the bodies’ natural cooling mechanism

A Good Night

*Place your sheet and pillowcase in a bag in the freezer before putting on to bed immediately before retiring.

*Keep windows and curtains closed during the day to keep the heat out, some folks sleep better with windows open at night, it depends upon how easily you are disturbed when asleep

*Take a cool shower before bed, wear natural fibres to bed or go nude (oo-er Mrs)

*Half fill a plastic drinks bottle or hot/cold water bottle and freeze, place in bed half an hour before retiring, remove before getting into bed to avoid ice burns.

* If you like a fan at night, place it by an open window, as the motor running all night will heat up the room

*Water and cool sprays can be very effective to make you feel more comfortable.
