Phew, we made it through the heat wave last week – thank you for your attendance and positive attitudes. Our studio cooling strategies worked well and whilst it was still a sweaty experience, class performance and the fun, friendly vibes were as good as ever!
I headed up to Pineapple Studios on Sunday for their open day and what has to be their biggest event of the year, with queue’s going around the block it reminded me of my dance audition days. I had an excellent success rate when auditioning there so it was like coming home.
Pineapple Studios offer a massive range of dance and movement classes, of every imaginable style for every level and age. A broad mix of men, women, boys and girls dressed in the attire of their dance style, limbering up side by side. Where bun headed ballerinas are stretching next to hoodie wearing ‘crumpers’ next to bejewelled waisted belly dancers, next to heel wearing burlesque dancers, black-attired musical theatre and more brightly dressed commercial jazz performers. Every class is created and instructed by the teacher, no pre-choreographed branded ‘en masse’ products are taught there, the environment is free from judgement and the vibe is one of creativity, joyous freedom of self expression and the happiness palpable. It’s a breath of ‘sweaty’ fresh air, no wonder I feel at home despite being a women of a certain age and shape!!!
My team and I aim to create an open armed, open minded, open hearted place to come and get fit in body and mind, where class content is created by us for our DYBO family to meet our communities needs, it’s a unique offering in todays fitness world. I do not judge anyone for their abilities or preferences and only ask for your best efforts and to be supportive and respectful of each other and me. If one of our classes is not for you, try another – I want you to be happy! If you want advice or support, ask!

Iced Green Tea Mojito
Refreshing and nutritious!

Ingredients
- 1 Pitcher/Jug of unsweetened Iced Green Tea (e.g. 12 tea bags or 4 tablespoons of loose leaf tea per 8 cups of water). Never let the water come to a boil for green tea – it will make it taste bitter and brew for just 3 minutes
Per serving:
- 3 mojito mint leaves
- 2 slices cucumber
- ½ lime, juiced
- ½ – 1 teaspoon honey (adjust to taste)
- Ice, crushed or cubed
- Squeeze the lime juice into a glass.
- Add the mint leaves and the cucumber slices to the glass and muddle until the leaves are slightly bruised. You can also use the back of a spoon if you don’t have a muddle.
- Fill the glass with ice and add your iced green tea.
- Add sweetener to taste.
- Stir well and garnish with additional mint leaves and lime slices, if desired. Enjoy!
Have a fab week,
Luv ya!
Helen x
