Please read, includes important information about your classes!

Sorry I meant Pokémon!! I was out and about on my bike yesterday (with Lady Mini in the front basket, of course) taking a break from sorting everyone’s personal booking schedules for the Summer. I cycled into Farnham, enticed by a mid-way coffee, (btw there is no ‘non-hilly’ route into Farnham, people, be warned!) and thought that a Zombie apocalypse had occurred. There were all these kids (and adults) wandering around holding their phones out oblivious to anything and everything (including ladies of a certain age, with little dogs in baskets and cars!). After nearly coming a cropper but thankfully not being eaten by one of these Zombies, I realized it was this Pokémon thing that’s all over the media. The Zombies provided me with great entertainment whilst I drank my alfresco coffee as they shuffled about the place bumping into both animate and inanimate objects.

As I cycled home again I noticed these Zombies were wandering around Farnham Park too. I thought what a shame it was that they were in the middle of a beautiful and peaceful (and free) park in Surrey on a stunning day yet were totally oblivious to the real world around them whilst they fought imaginary monsters in a virtual one. I have heard parents who are thrilled that their teenagers are at last extracting themselves from the sofa to join the Zombie shuffle and ‘phew’, they are at least getting some exercise and fresh air. Yes it’s a starting point so let’s not leave it there, let’s encourage them to put down the phone and interact with the real world around them, the real environment, nature and even the people who inhabit it with their real bodies and conversations!

Alas, I fear this will not happen and they will return to their Zombie pits when this game goes out of fashion, which is likely to be the end of the week!

The virtual world has entered the fitness arena too – it’s not just the budget gyms that offer virtual classes but also the expensive clubs too. It seems that they would rather spend big bucks on flash equipment rather than paying good instructors to do the very important job of motivating, encouraging, supporting, educating, and personalizing the gym/studio experience.

Real Human Beings!

Well if you want to be assisted with your physical and mental fitness I’m here, a real human being with lots of experience and knowledge, to support you with your very real and human fitness and wellness needs and goals, no pre-packaged fitness products or virtual impersonal stuff here, just classes and PT that is created for you by us – treasure us because we are limited editions!

Research studies have shown that when people are denied human contact they become physically and emotionally damaged, they develop diseases, withdraw and become depressed and develop personality disorders. Our modern world is really making people sick, we are ‘Zombie’ walking ourselves to illness, beware! The antidote is simple and cheap, get out and interact with nature, people and animals – it’s a simple way to stay well!

Remember, this week is the start of our Summer timetable and booking system – you can still book in with us (or pay on the door, £7.50) but the timetable is set and based upon all bookings so they are not transferable or refundable at this stage (some classes are running on minimum numbers so every booking counts). Everyone has a personal class schedule to take home, with payment form. All payment is required this week (or at first booked class) so please bring your cheque books, cash or you can pay online. You can email me if you want to know ahead of time.

Read on for class timetable, showbiz news and a yummy recipe that boosts your health and happiness – you can have your cake and eat it too!

Flourless Sweet Potato Muffins

Did you know that the humble easily available and inexpensive sweet potatoe is a super food! Its packed with b6, vitamin C, D, Iron, Magnesium, carotenoids and slow release energy! If we eat good food as preventative medicines we really can have our cake and eat it!

Ingredients

1 small sweet potato, roasted

3 Egg slightly beaten

¾ cup of canned coconut milk

2 tbsp of olive oil

½ cup of pure maple syrup

1 cup of rice flour

¼ cup of coconut flour

1 tbsp baking powder

½ tsp pink Himalayan salt

1 tbsp of ground cinnamon

1 tsp of ground ginger

⅛ tsp of ground cloves

⅛ tsp of ground nutmeg

Putting it together

Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Oil a 12-hole muffin tray.

Poke holes in your sweet potato and place on middle rack – cook for 60 minutes (or until soft).

Remove sweet potato from oven and let cool.

Scoop the sweet potato from the skin and place in a mixing bowl.

Discard the skin or eat it as a snack – it contains a lot of the same vitamins as the insides, plus roughage!

Add olive oil, almond milk and maple syrup to the sweet potato and mix until it is smooth.

In a separate bowl, mix the dry ingredients together.

Pour the dry ingredients into the sweet potato and mix until well combined.

Pour the batter in the muffin pan and fill each tin until ⅔ full.

Cook in the oven on the middle rack for 30-35 minutes (or until an inserted knife in the middle of the muffin comes out clean). Cool on a rack and eat yourself healthy!

Tell me what you think!

Have a fab week

Love ya
