We have lots of special festive fitness, dance and social events coming up before we break up for Christmas – more details later in this Catch Up, and I hope to see you at as many as you can make. Luckily for me, dancing and jumping about gives me such a huge mood boost that I don’t need to have a drink and eat lots of junk. My body and brain are so sensitive to alcohol and sugar, having it only ends in tears! (with me feeling ill, headachy and bloated!). So having an excuse to dance and party alongside you is a great big Christmas gift for me (yes, it’s a lot of work but all worth it when I see folks enjoy themselves).

I’m not alone, I know most of us feel worse for wear when our food and activity levels take a nose dive. Did you know that it takes 1 hour for our body to process just one unit of alcohol (on average, a 175ml glass of wine is 2.3 units of alcohol so it would take over two hours to process a glass of wine; over 3 hours for a 250ml glass). How ‘drunk’ we get is very individual depending upon our gender, size, age, stress levels, recent food intake and sleep levels.

So I shall get drunk on dance and fun fitness and I have some Christmas fabulousness in all of our classes this coming week – if you have anything ‘Christmassy’ then wear it!

Tuesday night (13th December) is our annual Christmas Party class and this year we are dancing to and inspired by music from ‘80’s Dance Movies’. Everyone is welcome and of course 80’s outfits are strongly encouraged, it’s easy – big hair, leg warmers, shoulder pads, off the shoulder tops and side pony tails, are just some easy ideas. Then hang a round afterwards for a drink, nibbles and chat.

I need all my ‘Dancespiration’ dancers at Thursday’s class for our ‘Diva Christmas Spectacular’ a Christmas Eve sleepover is the theme, please wear PJ’s, night shirts etc and bring tinsel, stockings or wrapped Christmas box’s if you have them.

Friday (16th December) there are no classes as we shall be getting our party gear on for our DYBO Christmas dinner. We will be meeting from 7.30pm for a welcome drink and then sit down to dinner at 8pm. We still have some spaces at the table so if you would like to join us then give me a call. The venue is Zizzi’s in Farnham GU9 7LN, on Castle street. There is parking at the bottom end of Castle Street (the upper end is residents only) or in the car parks behind Nat West or Waitrose. Let me know if you want to ‘lift share’ and I will try to hook you up with others.

The Christmas Timetable schedule is below but just a note about our traditional Christmas Cracker workout, it really is a fun class for everyone, the dancers can dance and the non dancers do circuit based exercises (of course you can mix and match). I love it, and Steve is Dj’ing for us yay!

Alcohol-free drinks for Xmas parties,

These are my little inventions I hope you like them!

Red Sky at Night

Orange juice, cranberry and, if you want, the sweetness of grenadine. Serve chilled.

Refreshing Minty Zinger

Sparkling water/soda, cucumber spirals, mint sprigs/leaves, lime wedges and a squeeze of fresh lime.

Hot Apple (not Cider)

50/50 apple juice and very hot water in a large pint mug/glass (if in a glass put apple juice in first) with a pinch of cinnamon or make a big pan of it and pop in a cinnamon stick , keep it on low heat for a non alcohol alternative to mulled wine or hot cider.

Just Tonic (almost)

Fever Tree naturally low sugar tonic water with a few blueberry’s ( or raspberries) and a slice of lemon over ice.

I love these as alternatives to any drink (except champagne!!!!!)

Have a fab week, I hope to see lots of you!!

Love ya,

Helen x
