It looks like we have a lovely week of weather ahead of us, so let’s crack on with the day and (dib dib dib) be prepared!
There is plenty to inspire us this week with wall to wall coverage of Wimbledon – I have already confessed that I’m terrible at tennis but I am very good at eating strawberries and sipping champagne! Many folks are sports fans and can spend hours sitting and watching it but I’m more of a doer than a viewer and would rather be out playing than inside watching. There is a balance to be had (something you hear me say a lot). I’m inspired by seeing/witnessing dedication, focused effort, measured and well informed coaching that is judiciously applied and received but I also love the passion that we see from the ‘best’ at what they do. Hard work will often overtake great talent if the talent doesn’t work on their skills, mindset and their fitness for purpose. The ultimate athletes have talent, great technique, practice their skills perfectly and train wisely (not just hard). Rest and great nutrition are also key, particularly for an enduring career.
We can apply the same philosophy to our own fitness (in fact all we do).
At this time of year the fitness industry and media often exploit people’s insecurities about their ‘beach bodies’ – it’s all about making money rather than true concern about the public’s health and well being.
Here is the key to your beach body!
Get healthy and fit via whatever activity you enjoy, makes you happy and you will stick with throughout the year.
Healthy, fit people look and feel great all the year round,
(Almost) all exercise when performed well and consistently – at the correct intensity – will produce results.
And time to be honest here, you can’t ‘out train’ a bad diet – sort out what you eat and drink!
Year after year I see people, who go hell for leather to get party/ beach/wedding ready, unable to keep it up, hurt themselves, get demotivated and end up feeling worse for having done it. This negative emotional impact influences their belief in the validity of undertaking wellness (physical, emotional, nutrtional) programmes, undermines their own confidence and sense of self-worth and ultimately results in the exact opposite in what they wanted to achieve. There are no short cuts, machines or tablets that will provide long term good health and wellness (which influences your apearance), The honest truth is that it is only achieved by living a continuous and consistent healthy life style. Yes, mix it up a bit by trying different activities, yes you can have a bit of what you fancy but be honest with yourself, if you don’t eat well and don’t do some form of activity/movement every day even a 2 week blitz on your fitness and diets will not achieve the reults you want in the long run!
The final thing I will say on the matter is ‘stop with the negative self-talk, love who you are and how you are’, sometimes loving yourself enough will be all it takes for you to make a change to look after yourself better.
All you need to be ‘beach body ready’ is a beach and your body!
Coolio
As the weather warms again remember to drink plenty of water throughout the day so that when you arrive at class/training you will be well hydrated and able to make the most of your session.
Dress in light layers and fabrics, natural fibres or those that will wick sweat away will keep you more comfortable,
You can spray water or cool spray on your skin and clothes to cool you
Pop a flannel in the freezer and bring it to class in a plastic bag with some ice for you to dab on your pulse points to cool you.
I will have the fans in situ and running to keep you cool too!
New Class… Urgent
I want to hear from all of you who want to come to Fridays new ‘Perfect Summer Workout’ BY THIS WEDNESDAY, 3rd JULY

Summer Schedule
Sarah and I will be preparing your Summer class request forms to give you this week. The Summer Class Schedule will be based upon which classes have sufficient interest, please complete and return asap, thanks

Boom, Steve’s boys smash it!
ONE Pro Cycling took a dominating 1-2-3 in the National Series up in Northumberland (held in the beautiful countryside around the Derwent Reservoir) on Saturday and then successfully defended the leader’s Yellow Jersey yesterday. 3 wins in close succession for the team as they build towards the Tour of Britain in September.

Great also to see that former ONE Pro rider, Kiwi Dion Smith made his Tour de France debut at the weekend!
