and Glory? The political mess we are in is certainly not something that lifts my mood but, ho hum, the only thing that I can do is ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’.
When I pay too much attention to the bad news locally and around the world, I feel demotivated and in low mood, which certainly does not help me stay happy or do my job supporting and lifting others physically or emotionally. Sometimes I have to step away from the media, put on some lycra and some funky upbeat music and dance my heart out or do a workout or dog walk. It works 100% of the time! There isn’t much in life that offers guaranteed results and is so inexpensive with no negative side effects (well maybe a little post exercise muscle aches but that’s short term) and the rewards are priceless.
I am sensitive and find that whilst I laugh loudly at jokes, funny movies and sketches I also cry easily at sad movies, the horrors on the news and in social media, when I hear of human or animal cruelty, environmental issues or injustice. I do what I can with how I donate, what I buy, the influence I can have with my voice or actions but it can pull me under and so I take a break and apply my lycra and sweat medicine, I recommend it.
On Sunday I took the dogs on a long hike in the sunshine and when I got back I choreographed a new routine for Dance Fit before sitting down at the computer to write this message to you. I feel renewed and invigorated. The TV will stay off for the day until it’s time to snuggle up with my fur babies (Declan included) and watch a funny movie.
We are here to help lift you up too, both physically and mentally.
I often hear from new participants, who are joining us having tried else where, how friendly, warm and welcoming our DYBO fitness family is. Thank you for that – it’s one of the things that makes me feel warm and fuzzy when I think about how I love my classes (and personal training) and those who come along.
Together we all make a positive difference, we never really know what’s going on in other people’s lives and we don’t need to know – just be there!
Big Up

Gut Friendly Breakfast
This is a great alternative to oats and cereals for breakfast.
Thanks Kay McLean for sharing the recipe with us.
Quinoa, Coconut and Mango Breakfast

Ingredients (for two portions)
1/2 cup quinoa, uncooked
15 ounce coconut milk, unsweetened
1 medium banana
1/8 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoon coconut chips, unsweetened
1 cup pieces mango ( I used pre-prepared)
Directions
- Rinse quinoa.
- In a small pan, combine the quinoa, lite coconut milk, and thinly sliced banana.
- Bring to a boil. Stir, reduce the heat and cover.
- Simmer until the quinoa is cooked and the texture becomes creamy, approx. 15-20 minutes. Stir occasionally during the cooking time. The banana will “melt” into the quinoa during the cooking time and the stirring will help this.
- Meanwhile, place the coconut chips in a small dry pan. Heat on medium for few minutes until the chips are golden brown.
- Once the quinoa is cooked, add it to two bowls and top with the diced mango and coconut chips.
Have a fab week
Remember we have new choreography, music and class content so jump back !
Love ya,
Helen
