Gooooood Morning DYBO Ganggggg!!!
How come I produce more washing after 3 days at a Convention than I do for a whole week’s holiday?
Phew, it’s the morning after the weekend before! You might remember Karen, Jo and I travelled to Blackpool to the IFS Conference to share our DYBO Academy message with teachers and participants, who congregated at the Winter Gardens for three days. My message was/is embraced with loud and supportive enthusiasm and the positive feedback from all three of my presentations is overwhelming!
There were lots of new and established formats on sale at the event. Everyone seems to looking for the next big product/bandwagon to jump on. It seems that there are a variety of ways to re-invent the wheel. There are hybrid programs which combine various disciplines in one class e.g. Pilates, boxing and dancing in one class or another program that includes 15 minutes of four activities which are aerobics, HIIT (high intensity intervals), martial art, and a yoga hybrid, fronted by X Factor’s Chico. Then there was 80’s aerobics (very simple and basic) with loud 80’s/90’s club music, flashing disco lights and glo-sticks (plus a lead teacher with the most fabulous singing voice – as you know, definitely not my strength!). Burlesque influenced movements with feather boa dumbbells etc
As long as folks a) get active, b) are motivated to stay active, c) are instructed well by knowledgeable and ethical teaching that focuses on safety first and then effectiveness, then I’m cool with it!
The great news to me is that within the general public (whilst they love a fad) there is a huge demand for Freestyle – which is free from franchise – independent original classes, yay!
My focus is on teaching! Good teaching (including appropriate design and delivery with the needs of the clients first and foremost) combined with fresh creative, interesting content and delivery that is backed up by science, born from inspiration and ethical practice. All these things together should, I hope, never go out of fashion! …and that is what the DYBO Health and Fitness and the teachers Academy is all about.
The Week Ahead
All classes are running as normal with, as always, a variety of new and interesting content, including Friday’s Big Balls Class. (6.30-7.15pm).
Summer is coming and we all want to be in shape from head to toe all year round, especially when it’s time to peel of the layers! Every session counts so you need to be, and we want you to be, at class, getting fit, firm and fabulous with us !
R.S.V.P!!
I’m programming in advance and want to respond with a ‘yay or nay’ to a request for a beginner’s Burlesque Fitness Fusion class (a one-off special). I’m thinking a Friday evening 6.30pm for one hour. Let me know if you would like to come and play a.s.a.p.
Class Requests
If you have requests for class style content music etc., then let us know!
Ante-post natal training for Pilates teachers
I shall be delivering my ante –post natal teacher training day for Pilates teachers this coming Sunday (29th March). Bookings close on Wednesday via Pilates training solutions.
Keeping it simple!
This week, I’m setting you a challenge !!!!
If you want to look slimmer, breathe better, feel clearer headed, reduce back, neck and digestive pain/discomfort, look more confidant and more, then do this following movement:
Stand/sit up tall, eyes level with the horizon, with shoulders back and down, neck long. Lower abdomen gently drawn in and breathe wide into your ribs. Do this all day every day! Check in with your posture every 15 minutes. Do this and you will look and feel fabulous! If you drink about 8 glasses of water throughout the day you will feel even better!
The only thing now that can make you even more fabulous is getting your arse to class!!! Ha Ha
Have a fab week my lovelies…
Remember to respond to the ‘Beginner’s Burlesque Fitness’ class request and to send me your feedback and requests too.
Love ya,
Helen
