Everyone, even the most upbeat of us, have times when they are not ‘firing on all cylinders’ and that’s the best way to describe how I’ve been feeling over the past few days. It’s not depression and it is easily explainable should I look for the reasons, I don’t want to feel that way and so I set about changing how I feel. Firstly I asked myself what was getting to me? I sat quietly and in between internal grumblings, my unconscious sent me messages giving me the various of reasons for my state, ok so now I have a choice as to whether I’m going to pay attention to this information and do something about it or am I going to do nothing and stay grumpy (a definition of madness is to do the same thing yet expect a different result). Second step is to decide what I’m going to do about it and put that plan into action. Often changing one or two simple things is all it takes to make a difference and is certainly the best way to get the ball rolling towards feeling and being the way you want to be.

Now the only reason I share this with you is so that you can understand that everyone can feel a bit down and most of us have the good health and good fortune to be able to do something about it! If you want help with understanding why you feel as you do, creating the strategy you require to make a positive change and the momentum you want to make things happen then get in touch.

This week I have plenty of news (including members successes and hangin’ with the stars) and a tasty low carb recipe to try for lunch or supper (plus a reminder of our terms and conditions)

Big Up Abbi

I’m a proud Auntie as my niece Abbi has kept up her exercise regime whilst at ‘uni’ and since coming home for Easter completed the Fleet half Marathon (with Dad, Ian) and a 10k race (completed in 58 mins, her PB). It’s wonderful that she resists the couch potato life style adopted by many young people and is also interested in healthy eating rather than fast food and junk.

‘Hangin’ with the Stars

I can’t understand it but DYBO Divas Adele and Emily, chose to hang out with celebrities Ant and Dec, Peter Andre, Catherine Jenkins et al rather than come to classes on Thursday and Friday. Did you see them performing with their group Aquabatix on ITV’s ‘Saturday Night take away’ live from Barcelona – tough life ‘aint it!’

Sweet Potato Carbonara.

I saw this recipe on face book and cant wait to give it a try, I will leave

out the bacon or replace it with a veggie alternative. Give it a try and let

me know what you think

Ingredients

2 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled

3 large eggs, beaten

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground pepper

1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil (or coconut oil)

3 slices of back bacon, chopped

8-oz sliced mushrooms

2 cloves garlic, minced

5-oz package baby spinach

Directions

Put a large pot of water on to boil.

Using a spiral vegetable slicer or julienne vegetable peeler, cut sweet potatoes lengthwise into long, thin strands. You should have about 12 cups of “noodles.”

Cook the sweet potatoes in the boiling water, gently stirring once or twice, until just starting to soften but not completely tender, 90-180seconds. Reserve 1/4 cup of the cooking water, then drain. Return the noodles to the pot, off the heat. Combine eggs, Parmesan, salt, pepper and the reserved water in a bowl; pour over the noodles and gently toss with tongs until evenly coated.

Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add bacon and mushrooms and cook, stirring often, until the liquid has evaporated and the mushrooms are starting to brown, 6 to 8 minutes. Add garlic and cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add spinach and cook, stirring, until wilted, 1 to 2 minutes. Add the vegetables to the noodles and toss to combine. Top with a generous grinding of pepper.

Serve with a large green salad

Wishing you a wonderful week, and remember we welcome the opportunity to help you be happy healthy and fit and welcome any questions requests and feed back too

Love ya
