All good things must come to an end and after a couple of weeks of over indulging it is time to ‘step away from the cheese’! Throughout my teens, 20’s and up to my mid-thirties I couldn’t let my hair down in terms of food and drink over the festive period (as I was a competitive gymnast, professional dancer and GB athlete) but now I’m a ‘civilian’, I get to enjoy all the goodies that my taste buds like, but my waist line doesn’t. The consequence is an extra bit of thermal (aka adipose) covering at the start of January. Well I’m not a model or competing in sport so it’s ok for a short while but I don’t like feeling bloated and lethargic, so I look forward to returning to healthy eating, regular dancing and exercising with you guys (and on my own) plus walking my dogs.
There is absolutely no need to go nuts on diet or excercise to achieve your figure and fitness goals – in fact it can be counter-productive. Eating too little makes us miserable, grumpy, lethargic and slows our metabolism, causing us to store fat and use our own protein (muscle) instead, often causing us to move less, feel cold, negatively affect our immune system and eventually binge and fall off the healthy food wagon spectacularly! Trying to train too hard and too often can result in injury and excessive aches and pains (aka DOMS -delayed onset muscle soreness). It isn’t realistic to go from no exercise to fitting in a ‘full on’ training session everyday of the week!. So start with small changes and gradually build your healthier and more active lifestyle over the coming month/s. If you would like some help, sign up (by responding to this email or messaging me on helen@dybo.co.uk) for a free daily tip from me, everyday throughout January.
You can of course book a one to one session/s with me and the team if you are determined to move forward – safely effectively and successfully.
Back to Class
Our One to One services resume as of today and our Class timetable returns this coming Thursday the 5th January, 6.15pm (ish) for Contemporary Stretch and 7.30pm for Dancespiration. Our fantastic Ski Fit course returns this Friday. It’s a brilliant class for everyone, even if you are not going skiing, but it’s essential if you are skiing and want to get the most from your precious time on the Piste.

Spread the Word
We welcome everyone back to class, even if you’ve been missing from action for a while, and if you have a friend who would like to attend our classes then bring them along and they can try their first class free of charge. All you need to do is introduce them either on the night or by email.
Group exercise is far more effective at getting people moving and sticking with their exercise than training alone. Block your classes/PT sessions out in your diary and schedule everything else around it, then you will get both your workout and all your jobs done too. Make your sessions non-negotiable and inform colleagues and family that you are busy at those times!
The DYBO crew and I aim to create classes and programmes that meet our clients wants and needs, we encourage requests for content and music and of course include things that our DYBO family needs, and trusts us to deliver too. We offer completely bespoke and original Personal Training, Sports Therapy, Life Coaching and Classes specifically for our clients. Certainly no ‘one size fits all’ or franchise products for our precious DYBO participants.
Helen’s January Juice
To get you back on track and feeling fab…
1 cucumber
1 apple
2 sticks of celery
1 handful of kale
1 handful of parsley and mint
This juice is packed with goodness. Parsley and kale are great sources of zinc, folate and vitamin K, which is also found in celery and of course Viatmin C, fibre and water!
I have borrowed the following two messages from fellow Fit Pro and womens health advocate Jenny Burrell
Wise words for us all to live by!

Happy 2017. I looking forward to helping you be happy, fit and healthy for this coming year and many more to follow
Love Ya,
Helen xxx
