Wow was Easter really only 2 weeks ago? ‘Life happens whilst you are making other plans’. So true – I’m also guilty of keeping my head down and ploughing through work, occasionally lifting it to see where I am and then dropping back into work mode. I usually wait until I’m sick before I take my foot off the gas and am forced to take a break! You might remember that Declan’s brother was laid to rest a few days ago, on what would have been his 60th birthday, and he had a message for us all and this I’m going to share with you.

Read on…

Message from Mick Waters, shared with us by Ryan Waters.

He told family and his close friends, to make time to be healthy, eat well, stay away from cigarettes, too much alcohol and too much stress. To make time to rest, play and be with loved ones. He told us not to delay visiting a doctor if we have strange or suspicious symptoms and to persist with those visits if you suspect something is amiss. You see Mick’s cancer was not picked up early enough despite him visiting the GP several times; he instinctively knew he was in trouble and didn’t insist on tests until it was too late The modern diet is full of processed foods, additives, chemicals, sugar and white grains. The modern diet and life style makes us fat, lethargic and miserable. Cancer and obesity related disease is on the rise, which means it’s how we are living (or not living) our life that makes us sick. We discuss it a lot but how consistently do we do what we know is best for us, or do we make concerted efforts for special occasions or holidays and fall of the wagon in between? I don’t mean fat loss dieting, I mean a balanced diet, free from junk, regular exercise that does more than burn calories. We all need to build muscle, be mobile and flexible, keep our bodies aligned properly and stable. We must spend time on quiet meditation and relaxation.

‘If you are too busy to take care of your health, you had better be prepared to make time to be sick!’

Low Carb and Gluten Free Pizza Base

For those of you who want to keep starchy carbs low in their diet or have an issue with gluten, try this courtesy of Cat Lawford.

Cauliflower Pizza base

Cauliflower works great as a pizza base… Take half a cauliflower steam it then then whizz in a blender, add a cup of almond meal and a couple of eggs… Mix together then push it onto a pizza pan and bake until golden (approx. 20mins at 180 degrees)… remove from oven and add topping of your choice, return to oven until topping is lightly brown. Let me know how you get on!

Wishing you a wonderful week, remember we are here to help you with your health fitness and dietary needs – just get in touch if you have any questions, want advice and of course get to your classes and training sessions.

Love ya,

Helen x
