I, like many, am shocked and saddened by the apparent suicide of Caroline Flack. The day after Valentines Day this beautiful and talented woman did not feel self-love and took herself away, for ever, from those who genuinely and deeply loved her. We don’t know why (that’s not been disclosed) but she has certainly been on the receiving end of vile abuse from media, social media and trolls who have never met her and seem to enjoy being mean because it grabs headlines, makes them feel better about themselves or just because they can – that is bullying, pure and simple.
When it comes to protecting ourselves from those who do not have our best interests at heart this quote springs to mind…
“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”
However when it comes to how we conduct ourselves in thought and deed this one speaks to me…
“Watch your thoughts, for they become words;
watch your words, for they become actions;
watch your actions, for they become habits;
watch your habits, for they become character;
watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”
Buddha suggests that before we speak we check…
“Is it true?
Is it necessary?
Is it kind?”

Is it possible that from the tragedy of Caroline’s death everyone has a wake up call about how we speak to others and ourselves? Is it a turning point where people focus more on what really matters? In my view, our mental and physical health and that of those whom we love are most important, above money, more than things, above careers and fame . Is it possible that we can value kindness, love and care over vanity, fame and extreme wealth?
My personal goal this year is to make more of a positive difference to my community and the environment. Being kind to others, sharing what I’ve learned about how to make a positive difference and making people smile more, are the ways in which I’m trying.
Some of you asked about listening to the Podcast that I was involved in with ‘Vogue and the Viking’. We talked about all sorts (they asked about my showbiz career, the films and TV I did, body confidence, ageism and gut health plus more) – it’s a bit cheeky and we laughed a lot!
Grab a cuppa and have a listen.

It’s half term and I have lots of fabulousness planned for you as usual. We have new routines/sequences with styles including club, pop, latin, commercial, house, jazz, ballet and musical theatre across our classes for the week ahead so it’s a fab week to make a comeback if you’ve been missing in action.

Gut Healthy snacks for Half Term
I understand how challenging it is to get children to eat what is good for them and to get them to put down the hand help tech and get involved with something productive unstead. How about getting them to bake some snacks with you. Often they are more inclined to eat what they have made. Cooking is an important life skill too.

Sweet Potato Turmeric Muffins
Refined sugar free, grain free gut healthy and protein packed so great for hunger management!

Ingredients
- ⅔ cup mashed sweet potato (to make sweet potato mash, just roast one sweet potato, skin on, in 375 degree oven for an hour, or until squishy to touch. Let cool and scoop out the orange flesh)
- Zest of 1 orange
- ½ cup unsalted nut butter of choice (raw or roasted works fine, but unsalted is a MUST)
- 3 organic eggs
- 2 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp turmeric
- 1 tbsp ginger
- ⅓ cup coconut flour
- 1/3 cup almond flour
- ½ teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- Black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit/180 Celsius. Line a muffin pan
- In a mixing bowl, stir together all wet ingredients until very smooth.
- In another mixing bowl, stir together all dry ingredients until well combined.
- Add dry ingredients into wet, mixing until no clumps remain.
- Spoon into muffin tin of choice. These won’t rise a lot, so really mound the batter on to get that gorgeous muffin top. Sprinkle with black pepper.
- Bake for 15 – 20 minutes for mini muffins or 30 – 45 minutes for larger ones, or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge. Makes 30 mini muffins.
Let me know how they turn out!
Reminding you to take care of your self-talk, how you speak to others
and that…I love ya.
