Mini’s Super Dogs
Mini and I hosted our Charity Dog Walk yesterday and what a wonderful day for it! Thanks to all of you who joined us and who sponsored us, I’ll be collecting sponsorship moneys/donations this week and will give you the total raised for Guide Dogs for the Blind and the Manchester Dogs home next week. Thanks too, to the Foresters pub in Church Crookham who hosted our tea and biscuits afterwards (donating the teas and coffees – really kind!). PS. I have some of the official Dogs Unite doggie ‘goodie bags’ left over! For a £10 donation you can get one for your beloved four legged friend!
What’s In A Name?
Our new website is almost complete and when it is, all UKFA and Community Fitness and Dance Club activities and news will come under one umbrella called ‘DYBO Health and Fitness’. In January we launch the DYBO Academy for Teachers of Dance inspired Exercise to Music and on the 19th October 2014, I am running the “Choreography Equation” teacher training workshop for Instructors of Exercise to Music and dance inspired fitness. I’m on a mission to raise teaching standards in the UK and provide education and support for teachers of all types of dance inspired fitness classes (including the franchise programmes), hence the rebrand and relaunch.

Class Change
NOTE: Thursday classes, ‘Contemporary Stretch’ and ‘Dance Your Butt Off’ will be held on WEDNESDAY 1st October, NOT THURSDAY 2nd October for this week only. Please bear in mind that I’m running them slightly below break-even point so if you said you could attend, please show up and if you haven’t booked, no problem, come anyway. Can you spread the word/remind everyone you know that comes to class. Ta x
Fitness Fridays
‘Big Balls and What To Do With Them’ starts this Friday for four weeks – 3,10,17 and 24th October. Stability Balls are an excellent training tool for rehabilitation, ante/post natal exercise, full body and core training workouts. In this course, you will discover the versatility of the Stability Ball and a huge variety of exercises. You will learn how to use them safely and with maximum effect and have fun doing it!
Bring your own Ball or contact us to purchase one. As with all Friday classes numbers are limited to ensure sufficient attention is given to each participant, so book asap to guarantee your place.
Hungry
The arrival of October has spurred an unconscious increase in my appetite – you might have noticed the same. I have worked hard to shed some weight this year so I’m looking at how I can satisfy my appetite and keep the weight off. I’ve turned to warm stews and soups packed with non starchy veggies and good quality protein. I don’t add potato, bread or dumplings as they are high in starch but eat enough to fill me up.
Dec spotted a great ‘no starch’ pesto recipe on telly;
Take some large courgettes (1-2 per person) and make into ribbons with a veggie peeler
Saute in butter (and a little onion if you like it) until soft
Add pine nuts then stir in pesto sauce
Serve with a cooked chicken breast and crispy salad.
Yum!
Stoptober
You might have noticed the Macmillan cancer campaign which invites us to stop drinking alcohol in October – suggesting that you can be sponsored to stay dry or donate the money you would have spent on booze to Cancer Care. I think it’s a great idea. Alcohol provides no nutritional benefit, is full of sugar and calories and stresses the liver. Plus it de-hydrates, negatively impacts upon our self-control (we often eat more when we’ve had a drink), makes us lethargic but disrupts sleep, messes with hormone regulation and is expensive. I’m going alcohol free for October – why don’t you join me ?
Remember your feedback is valued and requested. I love to hear from you and your feedback helps me design the programmes that you want.
Have a fab week.
Love ya,
Helen
