This is the final communiqué to you for 2019 – boy, haven’t we all individually and collectively been through it this year, and as we move forward in to another decade and the ‘sci fi’ date of 2020 I want to share a few thoughts of reflection and appreciation.
It is said that “if we are always looking backwards we cannot see where we are going”, and I agree – especially if it prevents us moving forward and getting on with our best life. It’s great to bring forward happy thoughts, memories and learnings that serve us well and leave behind those that hold us back.
I’m leaving behind the stress and worry of Declan being out of work for several months, he is back to full employment and we survived! This year I have gone beyond my own capacity to work hard and for long hours, which has affected my health at the end of the year; my dedication/desire to care for you all resulted in me not caring for myself in terms of mental and physical repair and progression. This I will address and do better in 2020.
I am grateful for all of my colleagues and clients – you all bring me joy and learning. I miss those whom I haven’t seen for a while (I hope to see you soon) and my heart is filled with love for those whom I have had the joy of working with this year, thank you.
My heartfelt thanks goes to Sarah who has been on maternity leave for the past 4 months and for the safe arrival of ‘Dalton Frank’. I look forward to her return in the New Year and all the cuddles that I’m going to get with Dalton!
Thanks to Daisy West, my Barre Fit co-teacher and Dance class cover teacher. Daisy has had an amazing year as a professional Ballerina traveling to Japan with a ballet company, performing with the Pet Shop Boys and more – we are blessed to have her share her expertise with us.
Thanks to Rachel Goulding and Teresa Wheatley for joining the DYBO teaching faculty and taking such great care of our DYBO family – love you Gals!
Thanks to Karen Hatcher for being my PT and Sports Massage ‘wing woman’ (and generally a fab person!)
Thanks to Karen Smith for her work with our Independance Day projects and to this year’s presenters, Zoe McNulty, Antonio Nino Sussini and Nikkie Riozzi for bringing their wonderful unique flavour of teaching and choreography.
Together Karen and I are proud to bring events that are special, original and uplifting – there really isn’t anything else like it. Thanks to all who joined in and gave it their all, we have more planned in 2020 and look forward to sharing these amazing days with you.
Thank you Declan and Steve for all your unpaid work behind the scenes, without you I don’t think I could keep it all going.
Thanks to all you special people who help set up and put away at the classes, your help allows me to pack out our allotted studio time with what we are there for!
Hopes, Dreams and Goals for 2020
I hope to see more of you more of the time, with us all putting ourselves first in terms of health, fitness and wellbeing.
I hope you will continue to support my strongly held belief that Fitness, Dance, Nutrition and Health services are best offered in a bespoke, individualised and well informed (via fact and experience) way rather than the ‘one size fits all’, mass market indoctrinated, body shaming products out there in the market place.
I recommend that we all exercise for our physical and mental health, doing something we enjoy with like minded and kind people, with whom we feel safe, not judged – not because we have been shamed in to it, not as punishment for eating a mince pie, not because it’s the latest recycled, rebranded thing that’s in fashion (good health is always in fashion) or because a social media influencer with an air brushed figure, specialist lighting and camera angles says so. Check the real credentials of your ‘experts’.
I pray that we all take better care of ourselves, our communities, our environment, the planet and every creature and living thing on it, via our thoughts, actions and deeds.
I hope we can heal the rifts that have appeared in our communities, working together to make us all successful, healthy and well.
I have plans for more health and fitness education for myself in 2020, more dancing (participating, leading and performing) a better work/ life balance filled with lots of laughter, creating my best life. Plus supporting my loved ones and clients with their goals too.
