Well weren’t we the lucky ones yesterday, to wake up to a glorious sunny day when we were warned to put our sun hats away and take out our brollies! I definitely took advantage, seized the moment and wrote this catch up sitting on my patio amongst my edible patio plants (yes it’s growing and producing fruit and vegetables. I haven’t killed anything, or anyone!!).

I often remind you that to achieve our goals we must have an effective strategy that we follow, review and adapt where necessary. Without a plan we can go in circles and fall short of, or miss our targets. Persistent spontaneity can lead to chaos and overwhelm.

Today I suggest to you that routine makes us routine. If you are in a rut, take action of a different kind, move in a different direction, think and act in a different way, shake things up a bit and yes be spontaneous! If you have plateau’d, are bored or not getting anywhere then take action (doing the same thing but expecting a different result is simply madness). I will also suggest that you can go with, and where, things take you -say YES to those spontaneous offers.
This is exactly what I did last weekend. Julie Tz from class told me of her plans to attend a Yin Yoga workshop on Saturday. My PT schedule allowed me to make it, so I invited myself along (sorry to gatecrash Julie and thanks for letting me join you). I enjoyed that time to be instructed and led by another teacher, to experience something for myself and not to be there to learn for my clients. I felt energised and relaxed, partly because of the content, but mostly because I was proud of my spontaneity, bothering to go with the flow and to go to a place where I had no idea what lay ahead of me or indeed know anyone, apart from Julie. Interestingly the room was full of teachers (of different disciplines, I was the only fitness/dance professional and one other lady was a branding specialist). Maybe it’s a mindset thing that this group enjoy embracing new things and learning, or maybe it’s fate lending a hand and this is what all of these teachers needed at this time – who knows, but it was great to do.
As your teacher/trainer I wish to find the balance between familiarity, developing the necessary skills to achieving progression and keeping it fresh, interesting and engaging, exploring new or revisting old ways of moving in order to help you achieve a healthy mind and body. We are all somewhere on a line of sticking with what we know and the familiar (because we know we can do it and therefore are safe from failing) and constantly trying out new things (sometimes because we haven’t committed fully to the methods/things we have been doing and are therefore not getting results, or we hope that the new thing will get us there with less effort, or it’s more fashionable and others are doing it?)

The ‘King’s New Clothes’ is a great fairy tale and shows us all that we can go along with others and not use our own minds and expriences to stand by our choices. Equally, we can become tired, stuck in our ways and fearful of or closed off from new experiences. I suggest that we all research, review, try new and various things out, but evaluate what works for you and go with it, be it new or well used – mix it up a bit!

This week I have some news about a brand new class, our next Independance day deal, the reasons behind why I have embarked upon a Gut Rehab program, plus my hydration recipes to help you enjoy your water!

Gut Rehab

Some of you might know that I have been doing a natural Gut cleanse program. This graphic shows you the problems you can have when our gut is unhappy

There is more and more evidence that Gut issues have an enormous impact upon your health in minor and major ways, and recent research shows the link with Fybromialgia, polymialgia and auto immune issues.

Hippocrates stated ‘That all diseases start in the Gut’

Dr Mosley of the BBC programme “Trust Me I’m a doctor” investigated the science around creating a healthy Microbiome (gut bacteria) and it’s importance and concluded that it is essential to good health.

It’s logical that if our gut is hindered in its work of absorbing nutrition we aren’t going to be/feel very well !I think that it is an issue that many of us need to address.

Keeping hydrated when you don’t like water!

Most of us are chronically dehydrated and know we need to drink more water but struggle with the bland taste.

Here are some of the tasty water recipes I’ve enjoyed this past week.

Today’s sluppingly good water is fresh pineapple slithers with rasberry in chilled water…

Pomegranate and orange

Lime and mint

Watermelon and mint

Can be served with fizzy water and ice for a low cal, tasty cocktail.

Enjoy my lovelies!

I look forward to your feedback and seeing you at class/training very soon.

Have a fab week.

Love ya

Helen xx
