It’s a good omen to have the 1st day of the month on the first day of the week. How about doing something for the first time today to complete the good luck trio? It’s so easy to drift along in life without direction or focus, so take a moment to think about where you want to be in the coming months and years and then decide upon the actions you will take to get there. Remember taking no action is often a vote for status quo.

It’s meant to be!

I went along to a dog show yesterday to show support for Jake’s (CFS Pet Services) with his Dog walking, training and animal care service. He is a natural with all animals and is helping me with some of the behaviours Lili has as a result of her being rehomed with us (and maybe because of her nature). Jake has also looked after our 5 fur babies when we are away and continues with the training etc. It’s a relief to know that they are cared for so kindly and expertly when we aren’t there.

It was a Doberman event with what looked like a hundred of these huge scary looking beasts stalking around (plus lots of other breeds). Now the first negative experience I had with a dog was with a poorly trained Doberman when I was a child and this is probably the only other interaction I’ve had since then, So this was a first for me and my little furry charges, I’m pleased to tell you we cracked on without issue and I’m proud of all of us. Firsts can come in all forms and little firsts can add up to create great changes in mindset and actions.

An original

Whilst there, I heard someone call my name and it turned out to be the delightful Stephanie, a lovely lady who came to my classes for many years. It was so lovely to see her. She said that she can’t remember why she dropped out of our classes and actually misses us – she felt that a week off became two, three, months and then years and she regrets losing touch with us. She went on to tell me that she has tried many classes and has not found anything that matched the level of instruction and support we give her. This knowledge of technique and safety has helped her to stay safe (apart from a knee injury sustained in a franchise class) but she has missed our (friendship) choreography and routines as she loves to dance. She assures me she will be back.

You are always my DYBO darlings so remember that if you’ve dropped off the fitness and dance pathway with us, you are always welcome and that you don’t need to get fit or lose weight to come back. Those are just two of the many reasons you come to us in the first place, let us help you with all things health and fitness related (plus more with our life coaching and NLP).

Living and Dying, the Dream

You might have seen that there was a fatality on the Ride100 yesterday in and around London. Of course those who look for any excuse to not get of their butt and exercise will tell us, ‘see it’s dangerous’ and justify their sedentary lifestyle. In terms of percentages, more people die from sedentary related disease than do whilst cycling or running etc. so that argument doesn’t stand up to scrutiny as sitting on your sofa or at your desk is way more dangerous and sitting in your car even more so!

Last year my sister rode the One Hundred and one of her team mates died out on the course. His wife was amazing when she told the charity (and team mates) that he was riding for a cause he was passionate about, doing the thing he loved and had no regrets, he died doing what he loved. This year his 12 year old son, William, rode 40 miles of the course in honour of his dad and for the charity

What a beautiful tribute and very brave – that acorn didn’t fall from that tree.

For me, life is about the quality of how we live, how we care for those people, creatures and environment, the legacy we leave – basically how well we live, not how long.

One Pro News

Steve’s boys were in action in the Pro race of Ride London and despite being involved a few crashes (both Josh Hunt and Yanto Barker had some nasty injuries which needed medical attention) they gained an excellent 9th place through Steele von Hoff, very credible with so many world and Olympic riders, including the awesome Sky team and 3 x Tour de France winner, Chris Froome.

Go GB

We got to see our GB Synchro ladies (Olivia and Kate) perform their Olympic routines before they head off to Rio – the girls look brilliant and I’m sure they will do well, good luck girls from Auntie Helen xx

It’s great to see how well our Olympians from 2012 are doing now too

(especially after the disappointment of having their funding cut and the team disbanded) and that they are still there to support their former team mates.

Take advantage!

As it is the holiday season I have some gaps in my one to one schedule, so if you would like Sports Therapy, Pre/Rehab, Personal Training or Life Coaching goals – setting creating effective and successful strategies, then now’s the time to get in touch and book in with me.

Cauliflower Steaks

Here is a meat free BBQ meal option or for meat eaters, a low carb veggie side dish (can also be prepared under the grill)

1 cauliflower, sliced bottom to top in thick slices.

BBQ seasoning rub or garlic and paprika (or anything your love) rubbed over the cauliflower steaks.

Organic cooking oil (I use coconut oil) rubbed over seasoning.

Place on grill and brown on both sides (maybe sprinkle some cheese on the cooked side when you turn it over).

Serve hot with salads – yummy!

Have a wonderful week and remember we are here for you.

Love ya,

Helen xx
