Only one more sleep to the party of the year and I’m sooooo excited to be sharing the decorations, food, music (Steve is DJ’ing as usual) and choreography but most especially, your company! As you know, the theme is Motown 70’s Disco (with a bit of glam rock if you like). Flares, afro’s, glitter (leave the platform shoes at home!) is the image I have in mind, but whatever you can cobble together is fine.
Tuesday 16th December is a “Christmas Boogie Wonderland”, 7.30pm at All Hallows. Everyone is welcome! PS. Please bring an inflated balloon!
DYBO Team
Last night we had our DYBO team dinner – our small team is expanding with the addition of Karen Smith as the Business and Marketing Director of the DYBO Academy. With Karen’s skills we are taking advanced teacher training and choreographic methods to teachers across the UK. My mission being to up-skill independent Aerobics and ETM instructors to help them create original, effective and fun, dance inspired classes and be successful as independent community based teachers and business owners (club and franchise teachers are welcome too).

Steve’s New Team
We are finally allowed to announce that Steve is coaching a new Pro cycle team – ONE Pro Cycling!
Several months ago Steve was approached to put together a new Race Team co-founded by England cricketer, Matt Prior. Steve has been key to recruiting riders and setting up the support structures etc. and is looking forward to repeating the success of his previous team in 2013, the record breaking Team UK Youth.
He will therefore play a smaller role here at DYBO, but will still be around.
Bravo Liberty
Sarah’s Gymnasts performed excellently at their home competition on Sunday, winning many medals and being complimented on their gymnastics, turn out and conduct – well done everyone especially Sarah and her team of coaches and helpers.
Christmas Indulgence
This is the time of year where folks often over eat and drink, nibbling on ‘choccies’, biscuits, mince pies, and alcohol day after day. Many people find themselves bulging out of their party outfits before the 25th! Obviously this doesn’t do a great deal for our appearance or self-esteem but my biggest concern is the impact it has on physical and mental health, especially when you combine it with the amount of pressure people put on themselves to produce the perfect Christmas, be the best host, most generous present giver, put up perfect decorations, wrap presents, spend too much, eat/drink too much and do too little.
Your body and mind need more, not less exercise at this time of year to combat the extra calories and greater stress! Have you ever found yourself getting fed up bad tempered, or depressed at Christmas; maybe your mind and body are telling you to eat better and move more!
Every year I witness people drop their classes in favour of spending their time doing Christmas ‘stuff’ and every year I see them suffering the consequences and complaining about it. Every year I say “Christmas is just one day” (or two at the max if you count Boxing Day) – no one gains weight or loses fitness from one day of indulgence, but you do when you drop your healthy lifestyle and diet for the entire Christmas season! Balance is key to good health at every time of the year.
That said, on Christmas day – eat drink and be merry!
Turkey Trotters
We are still planning to meet up on Boxing Day at 10am at the Foresters pub for our get-together walk (with or without dogs everyone is welcome). Email me at helen@dybo.co.uk if you want to join us!
Have a wonderful week; I hope to see you at our party class.
Love ya,
Helen x
