I know it’s not the weather many of us like but for plant life and those who rely on well watered ground (I was speaking with Tacye about this and that there wasn’t enough grass for her sheep due to dry weather), the rain is a blessing.
We can make ourselves miserable by focusing on the negative side of things, but remember there is always at least one other side! In this weather we can rock the festival look (which is wear anything with fun colourful wellies – I’m going to get my Daschund ones out), and…
I know that for outdoor events like sports days, fetes and weddings it’s more of a challenge but when we see how our war heroes stormed across the channel on D-day to liberate Europe and protect us all from dictatorship, it’s a reminder that we have little to complain about really.
At this time of year many of us are preparing for the holiday season and often how we will look in our swim suit. I believe that we can and deserve to feel healthy and well all year round and that we can love ourselves no matter what type (size/age) of wrapping we come in. Some of us we we don’t feel that we are there yet and so want to make some positive changes to achieve the wellness we desire. I want nothing to do with anything that encourages body shaming or self hatred and am aware of the bikini dieting culture being promoted by the fitness, diet, and fashion industries and social media at this time of year. Love Ireland has started on the TV and whilst I have never watched it other programs do play clips. The contestant are very young, body and external image focussed, primped premed and often artificially altered to look that way, it is not normal, natural or (often) healthy! The suicide rate from that show is well above the national average and I’m concerned not only for the mental health of the contestants but also the mental and physical health of those who are influenced by it.
I’m aware that we all have to start somewhere and if getting in to your swim suit is the start/return point for your health and wellness objective then so be it and I am here to assist people make head way with achieving their goals and then maintaining them. I have the many tools in my extensive range of services and classes plus plenty of variety when it comes to effective and safe movement methods, protocols and systems. Speak with me if you want some advice.

Vegan Kale gut friendly Caesar Salad (found on Healthline.com but modified by me)

Ingredients
- 2 to 3 cups massaged kale salad/Romaine lettuce if you prefer
- 1/2 avocado
- 3 tablespoons hemp seeds
- 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast ( I leave this out, doesn’t agree with me)
- Garlic, optional
- Dash of apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup chickpeas
Directions
- Prepare massaged kale salad and set aside in a serving bowl.
- In a blender or food processor, combine avocado, hemp seeds, nutritional yeast, optional garlic, and a dash of apple cider vinegar. Blend together for a thick and creamy dressing.
- Pour over kale and combine. Then top with chickpeas. If you’d like to add another protein source instead of a vegetarian-friendly protein, try grilled chicken. Enjoy!
If you don’t have a blender, simply mash all of the “wet” ingredients with the back of your fork and then work the mixture into the romaine lettuce or massaged kale.
Have a fab week,
Luv ya!
Helen x
