I’m basking in the glow of a perfect day (for me).
Independance Day with Dan Little was simply fabulous, fantastic music, choreography, fun, giggles and friendship. Our Independance Day family travels from far and wide to join us for these inspirational fun (and sweaty) days – some for more that 2 hours in each direction. The feedback is fantastic and Karen and I are thrilled that everyone loves these days so much.

“Can we do it all again tomorrow” and “can we have Independance Days more frequently” are just two of the lovely messages I’ve received from attendees, with Sue Cox (former ITV Gladiator Vogue, Aerobic Champion and full time Fit Pro) saying “thank you all for another amazing DYBO day of dance, laughter, fabulous choreography and expert professional teaching at it’s best…JT, Gene Kelly ‘fluidity’ (word of the day)…La La loved it…more please…videos so that I can try and remember the routines!!! Xxxx”
Thanks is heaped upon my fellow event Director, Karen Smith, head of all things maintenance Declan, music by Steve and admin, Sarah. It’s a team effort!
Of course Dan’s wonderful choreography, teaching and gentle coaching style is fantastic. We are grateful for him making this one of the very few events he squeezes into his ridiculously busy schedule.
Videos will be out soon.
So to the week ahead…
More wonderful dance and fitness offerings for you this week at classes (now every week night! So no excuses if you miss your regular class because we have something on for you every night) plus personal training, sports massage therapy and life coaching/NLP.
The two new classes added to the programme (Barre Fit and Freestyle Fitness Yoga) are fantastic and I’m loving teaching and participating in them – so beneficial!

Metabolic Effect
I have been asked about my take home thoughts after last weekend’s Metabolic Effect conference. Well I’ve been massively busy preparing for Independance Day on top of my regular schedule so not had a change to read over my notes.
The key to good health (remaining disease-free) and effective weight management lies in simple things. The nutrition side can seem complex but if you strip away the science, it’s simple.
Make positive changes one step at a time
My challenge for you this week is to be properly hydrated, not drinking fancy sports drinks but simply good old H20. The majority of us Brits are chronicaly dehydrated which can result in significant illnesses and diseases.
Dehydration is linked to obesity and being overweight, cardio vascular illness, disease, strokes and cardiac arrest , some cancers, kidney infections and UTI’s, dull, dry and blotchy/spotty complexion, sore eyes, acrid breath, poor sleep (duration and quality), poor memory and brain function, headaches, muscle cramps and injury, poor sports/excercise performance, fatigue and lethargy
Simply drinking 2-3 litres daily will help combat all of these issues.
Drinking a pint of hot water with lemon in the morning helps awaken and refresh you in addition to stimulating metabolism whilst curbing appetite, a glass of water with a meal will help us eat less food (it’s an urban myth that it dilutes digestive enzymes) regular glasses of water through out the day will keep us full and less likely to snack on unnecessary calories in addition to keeping us alert and our brains working optimally.
Tips to drink water
- Fill a large bottle in the morning and endeavour to finish it within an hour before bed time. If a large bottle is overwhelming, fill a small bottle several times through out the day untill you reach your target.
- Iced and very cold drinks take longer to be absorbed into the blood stream as they sit in the stomach until they are body temperature and can be safely absorbed into the blood stream.
- Diluted juices and fruit/herbal teas count as hydrating fluids (take care of amount of sugar you are consuming) but alcohol isnt!!!!!
- Try adding sliced fruit (lemon, orange, apple, kiwi, melon) or mint, cucumer or blueberries to a jug of water and chilling it in the fridge to make water more apealing and palatable.
- Very quickly your ability to drink enough water every day will improve as you retrain your bodies thirst mechanism.
I’m on a hydration mission too!
I welcome your comments and feedback
Have a fab week
Love ya
Helen x
