Wasn’t yesterday beautiful, and it’s exactly what we all needed after a challenging news week.
I’m certain all of our hearts go to those affected my the Westminster terrorist incident and I know for them the effects will be far reaching.
We will dust ourselves off ‘drink tea and carry on’ which is the true London Blitz spirit, sticking two fingers (just like Winston Churchill) up to those who would intimidate or threaten – we will not have it!
Yesterday I took my Mum and our ‘fur babies’ to run on the beach – wow what a mood lifter. I think someone would have had to work hard at being in a bad mood after a day at the beach watching the dogs and children run in and out of the sea. Some salty air, sunshine and exercise is a true tonic and recharges the spirit.
What a difference an hour makes! I’m not a big fan of early mornings so being woken by Lili sitting on my head licking my face at 6am (the old 5am) this morning wasn’t my idea of fun, however I know for many of you who have been going to and coming home from work in the dark, the earlier start is a blessing (just don’t expect any sense from me in the mornings for a few days!!). British Summer Time will give us all the lift we need to be more active throughout the day.
Last week I introduced athe ‘activity snack’ which is just a couple of minutes where we stand up and move our bodies. We often take a break to make a cup of tea or snack, so why not take a few minutes to stimulate our body – circulation, lymphatics, mobilise joints, muscles, fascia (yes I said it), metabolism- and our minds, re-focus, de-stress, lift mood, wake up a bit.
If you would like it I will do a weekly activity snack now called a ‘boogie snack’ to help us all feel better. Doesn’t take much time or space and the benefits are far reaching. You can request music and activity (it doesn’t have to be a dance sequence) so over to you, I look forward to your suggestions.
Closed Group
I have created a Closed Facebook group just for DYBO class members. The intention is to share DYBO news with you and you with us – its your group! It’s to help me share any class changes quickly and easily and for you to ask questions make suggestions or comments and for us to chit chat with each other. I know not all of you have FB accounts, can just join our group (and no other if you don’t want to) you will then be kept informed of class cancellations or changes.

- Pot Noodle
- I can’t remember who told me about this but I think it’s brilliant!
- Eating at work can be a challenge when you want to stick to a healthy eating plan, so why not take a home made pot noodle – all you to do is add hot water.
- Ingredients
- 1 jam jar, screw top pot or tupperware
- 1 nest of thin, quick-cook egg noodles
- 1 teaspoon vegetable bouillon powder, or ¼ veg stock cube
- A good pinch of soft brown sugar
- 1 small carrot, peeled and very thinly sliced or cut into fine julienne
- 3–4 spring onions, trimmed and finely sliced
- 6 sugar snap peas, shredded, or a few frozen petits pois
- 1 leaf of spring greens or green cabbage or a couple of leaves of pak choi, stalk removed, finely shredded
- ½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger
- ½ garlic clove, grated
- ¼ red or green chilli, deseeded and finely chopped
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- Juice of ½ lime
Put all the ingredients, except the soy sauce and lime, in a ‘pot’. Pour over boiling water to just cover everything, pressing the ingredients down. Cover and leave for 8–10 minutes, stirring once or twice, then add soy sauce and lime juice to taste, and eat.
Enjoy the day you create,
Love ya,
Helen x
