‘The world is as we see it’ is an expression used commonly in NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programing) and I wholeheartedly agree. What we see and experience as we go through our day/life goes through our psychological filters (delete, distort and generalise). How we view, and make sense of our world, is influenced by our previous experiences (and how we filtered those too), plus the influencers that surround us from our birth to now.

This is how we end up with such differing viewpoints when apparently seeing/experiencing the same thing, how people are brain washed and how prejudice and bigotry thrives and so on. Equally this is how goodliness is also spread, as can positivity plus healthy behaviours and attitudes, which lead to good mental and physical health.

It’s a wise move to surround our selves with people who support our love of self, each other and all aspects of our health. Being with people that lift us and support us with honest, well-informed advice, who live in congruence with that advice and whom we can model our best selves will elevate us and help us be healthy and happy. Avoid spending too much time with people who only want to tell us what we want to hear, will filter advice/support so that it doesn’t impact upon them or who compete with us and so on. Choosing to think positively and see opportunities and being with like-minded people will provide you with wind beneath your wings rather than weights around your heart. I aim to be one of these people and am flexible with my advice and support to help my clients and loved ones get to a healthy place physically and mentally. That doesn’t mean being so flexible no change is achieved or being dictatorial. It’s about finding an honest and effective path through each individuals map to achieve their goals. My class members and one to one clients are totally unique and are treated as such.

I recommend we all review our relationship with others and ourselves and endeavour to be the wind beneath our own wings and those we care about. Look for those positive people who help us feel good and do better, and be the same for others.

 

Terms and Conditions

I’ve been checking through my box of class vouchers and note that not every one is using their voucher within 12 weeks of purchase. This is the condition on which a large £10 discount is given.

Remember that vouchers expire within 12 weeks of purchase/first class used.

Voucher credits can be used at any class on the door except Friday courses when credits can be used in advance to secure your class but not refundable if that class is not attended.

Vouchers, Monthly Membership and PAYG provide a flexible system to suit different preferences and commitment.

At this time of year lots of people are making choices about where they will take their exercise classes and one to one fitness and health care services. As a small boutique business its difficult for them to find us and for our voice to be heard above the marketing might of the large brands.

Something different

If you are looking for an alternative or additional class remember we offer 10 classes per week and each one’s completely different and created by me for you, my DYBO family. I also provide bespoke personal training if you want specific guidance to help you with your health and fitness goals or small group 2/3 if you want to work out with a pal/s.

 

A lovely big serving of soup is like big cuddle in a bowl

Soup is a great way to fill up on nutritional ingredients and (research suggests) that it keeps us feeling full for longer than exactly the same ingredients eaten on a plate and not made in to a soup.

 

Courgette and Turmeric Soup

Ingredients

1 tablespoon ghee or coconut oil

1 large brown onion, diced

½ teaspoon sea salt

2 medium courgettes (about 500 g / 1 lb), diced into cubes

3 cloves garlic, diced

2 teaspoons turmeric powder

1 teaspoon mild curry powder

¼ teaspoon pepper

1 cup vegetable stock (or water with ½ vegetable stock cube)

1 cup coconut milk (I choose to use half fat)

1 teaspoon fish sauce (optional – I don’t use this)

Juice of ½ small lime (about 2 tablespoons)

Fresh coriander/cilantro for garnish

 

Instructions

  • Heat the ghee/oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté for 4-5 minutes, stirring a few times, until softened and golden.
  • Add salt, Courgettes and garlic, stir through the onion. Add the turmeric, curry powder and pepper and stir to release the aromas.
  • Add the stock, coconut milk and fish sauce and stir through. Bring to boil, then turn the heat down to low. Simmer for 10 minutes, covered with a lid.
  • Finally, add the juice of ½ lime and stir through.

Serve with a few fresh coriander leaves on top.

I have known Helen for 12 years. I joined Helens fitness classes and have never looked back. Helen is my personal trainer, massage therapist, and still love attending her fitness classes. Helen is very helpful when discussing my dietary requirements, as well as guiding me through the ante/post natal period with my second child and injury rehabilitation. I have found Helen to be very professional, knowledgeable and a brilliant motivator. Helen has not only become a very close friend but a mentor to my wellbeing. Helen is my ‘Guru’!
