Firstly, my thoughts are with those affected by the shootings in Las Vegas, I woke to the news and immediately wondered if our Synchro star Jenna, who is appearing in ‘O’ in Las Vegas is safe (I’ve just to heard from her and she is locked in the theatre but safe).

Thank you for your messages of support after last week’s catch up. To date I have had four written testimonials and one recorded one. If you don’t want to record one at class you can always record one on your own phone and send it to me via WhatsApp – our phones can do the work for us and so much more than we realise (especially if you are a bit of a technophobe like me). It only needs to be a few seconds and say why you choose DYBO classes and services. The videos will be used on the website and social media to encourage new participants to join us.

Timetable Change

All Hallows is closed to external hirers on Wednesday so no Barre Fit this week, back to normal next week. We have 9 more classes throughout the rest of the week, so still plenty to choose from. (including a Friday Special!)


Tuesday Dance Fit (7.45-8.30pm)

This class is at risk of closing, so if you value it please support it with your attendance and promote it with your contacts.

This week I’ve choreographed an old school meets new school hi-lo dance fitness routine – energetic aerobics mixed with simple dance choreography, taught step by step (literally) and continuously to build fitness, burn calories and engage you fully throughout, time flies when you have fun!

Stoptober Start over!

The media is full of ‘Stoptober’, stop smoking and go sober for October.

I’m all for this challenge, a month of sobriety will save you money and empty calories, give your liver a chance to recover, assist with better sleep cycles and more.

How about focusing on eating well, sleeping enough and moving more and so really meet the challenge head on and invest your focus, time and money of healing, repairing, strengthening protecting and fortifying! I’m here to help!


Soup Dragon

Here is a seasonal soup recipe for you to enjoy, vegan and packed with taste and nutrients – it’s a 10 out of 10 in terms of goodness for all of us!

Paleo/Vegan Butternut Squash Soup…this recipe can be made vegan if you use avocado oil and vegetable broth (see ingredient list)

2 tablespoons ghee, grassfed butter or avocado oil
1 large yellow onion diced
8 cloves roasted or raw garlic
24 ounces butternut squash cubes steamed or microwaved until fork tender
2 cans full-fat coconut milk
4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
3-4 teaspoons chili powder depending on how hot you’d like it
3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 cinnamon sticks
3 sprigs fresh rosemary
Sea salt and black pepper to taste

Cook down the onions first. Heat a large pot on medium and cook the onions in your butter/oil until translucent. Add in the garlic cloves and cubed butternut squash. Cook for another 4-5 minutes until your entire kitchen begins to smell.
Add in the canned coconut milk, broth and spices. Cook on medium until the soup comes to a low boil. Then, lower the heat so the soup is simmering for another 20-25 minutes.
Remove the soup from the heat. Discard the rosemary sprigs and cinnamon sticks. Blend the soup in a high-speed blender or with an immersion blender until smooth and creamy. Adjust the salt and pepper according to your taste preferences. Serve warm.

I was originally refered to Helen in 1998 by a Chiropractor, following on going back problems from years of competitive tennis.  Helen put together a programme to improve my flexibiity, posture and core strength, and in conjunction with regular sports massage (from Helen) and Chiropractic treatment, totally cleared up my lower back pain.  I have continued regular treatment over the last 13 years to maintain a healthy back and have had minimal problems since.  Last October (2010) I ruptured my achilles tendon playing football, and following surgery Helen and Steve were able to provide me with support and guidance throughout my recuperation.  Ten months on I am back playing tennis and football and training to the maximum at Bodyblitz (one of Helen's classes)!!
